Gautamiputra Satakarni Movie-riview-story-cinema stills-songs-tickets-free-download-Nandamuri Balakrishna-Hema Malini-Shriya Saran

CAST: Nandamuri Balakrishna, Hema Malini, Shriya Saran, Shiva Rajkumar, Kabir Bedi
DIRECTION: Krish Jagarlamudi
GENRE: History
DURATION: 2 hours 25 minutes

STORY: Satakarni (Balakrishna) the emperor of the Satavahana kingdom nurtures a dream – a united Bharata khandam. He fights wars to unite the entire Bharata khandam under one kingdom thus ending all war. The film traces the life and glory of the 2 century emperor.

GAUTAMIPUTRA SATAKARNI MOVIE REVIEW: Directed by Anjanaputra Krish, starring Basavatarakamputra Balakrishna and Neerajaputri Shriya – Gautamiputra Satakarni as promised is all about Telugu glory. Generously embellished with dialogues that sing praises of the “Telugu jathi”, and that too delivered by Balayya, GPSK gives the audience a lot of reasons to cheer. Balakrishna looked like he put his own love for the culture in the dialogues. “Badugu jaathi kadu Telugu jathi!” thunders Satakarni to the northern ruler who mocks the people of the south and he does it powerfully enough to make you feel the Telugu pride in you that you never knew existed – quite a fix of regional ego, that.

As Satakarni asks “Amma kante ekkuva evaraina unnara” to his courtiers who object to letting Gautami (Hema Malini) take the throne before the king does as “agra tamboolam”, you will find yourself convinced. And his wife Vashishti Devi (Shriya Saran) too is given her due credit when she allows her infant son to fight a war with his father, albeit reluctantly. Shriya as Vashishti Devi looked majestic yet delicate and played the role of a hurt mother impeccably. Hema Malini too was a delight to watch on screen.

Balayya in his 100th film too is actually resorting to his usual antics – killing an army singlehandedly, slapping thighs as he speaks about his clan, punch dialogues and larger than life heroism. However, because he does it in this dramatic set up of a historical as the proven valiant ruler, it all fits. But you can barely ignore the fact that he is getting older. Although the maturity in his face helped during the high-emotion war scenes, his body language wasn’t cooperating.

GPSK is all about the dialogues. Your love for the language will certainly get a boost after watching this film. It was a job well done by Sai Madhav Burra; kudos! As much as the album was a great hear, the songs don’t do much for the film. Especially two songs in the second half, Mriganayana and Saho Sarvabhowma seem unnecessary.

Khaidi No 150 Movie-story-rivew-stills-tickets-songs-free-download-Chiranjeevi-Kajal Aggarwal-Brahmanandam-Ali

Chiranjeevi-Kajal Aggarwal

CAST: Chiranjeevi, Kajal Aggarwal, Brahmanandam, Ali
DIRECTION: VV Vinayak
GENRE: Drama
DURATION: 2 hours 27 minutes

Due to a quirk of fate Kathhi Seenu (Chiranjeevi), a convict on the run, ends up swapping places with a good samaritan Shankar (Chiranjeevi), who is fighting for the rights of poor farmers. All Seenu wants to do is to run away to Bangkok, by conning the poor farmers, but he ends up becoming their liberator.

KHAIDI NO 150 MOVIE REVIEW: There was a time, from the late eighties to mid nineties to be specific, Chiranjeevi could entertain playing plain stupid. Like get all giggly and coy with the side kick while discussing how to chat-up the girl he digs. Or kiss his fingers in delight after touching patting her cheeks and blow air kisses. And when he’d hold his belt and doing those trademark tummy wriggles, the theatres would echo to deafening roars of whistles. Can’t fault Chiru for not trying though. He did all that in trying to be the Megastar of the past. And more. But watching him hold his yellow lungi — which is wrapped around a gaudy designer distressed denim — and go Ammudu let’s do Kummudu to a waif like Kajal Aggarwal, something seems off. Way off. There were whistles, yes, but they seem to be coming from motely bunch of pot-bellied-40-somethings, who seem to reminscing about the days of yore, that are long past.

It has to be said, Chiru doesn’t look a day older than he did in his last film, Shankar Dada back in 2007. Yet something seems amiss. Even with the dancing When shimmying and shaking in contour hugging pencil fit trousers, he still looks graceful, albeit in a way a 60 year old man would. Nothing like the Megastar of yore. Guess in the decade that he’s been away, we’ve gotten too used to the gravity defying dance moves of the likes of Allu Arjun, Ram Charan and NTR Jr that have become the benchmark. With the physical spectacle element gone of his dancing, the spring in steps is missing, the famed grace and poise notwithstanding.

Unfortunately, for the entire first half Chiru keeps doing just that for most the of first half. Perhaps he’s been away too long. May be he just needs to do it long enough before we all get used to it again. May be not. It will all depend on how big a fan you are of the Megastar and how glad you are to see him onscreen again.

Thankfully, in the second half, that we get to see flashes of the old Chiru. Not so surprisingly, it happens in those episodes where the man is beating the bad guys to pulp by the dozen. The evident decline in agility in physical movements notwithstanding, Chiranjeevi looks more convincing in the action episodes. When delivering lines that dwell on the ill-treatment meted out to the farmers, rattling out how the corporates are exploiting mother earth, he brings a gravitas that makes the dialogues seem better than they are.

The story has it’s heart in the right place. Chiranjeevi does the needful to play an a son of the soil, who is heading a motely bunch of old men who don’t want to part with their land. Tarun, Anjala Zaveri’s husband plays the vicious corporate honcho who wants to set up a factory on their farm lands, albeit a little too underwhelmingly. The action and drama bits are alright, as are some bits of the comedy tracks that involve a barrage of funny men — Ali, Brahmanandam and Posani. But does it all come together as a film? We aren’t sure. But yes, Chiranjeevi is back for sure, although we can’t quite say he’s back with a bang.

happy new year 2017 - hrithik roshan bollywood actor

With his gaze fixed on UP and the larger Dalit constituency, PM Narendra Modi launched on Friday an app whose acronym Bhim (Bharat Interface for Money) beamed a political message to the socially disadvantaged.
The app, which seeks to ensure easy, fast and secure digital transactions, saw Modi invoking Dalit icon B R Ambedkar several times at an event here as he argued digitalisation would empower the poor -rather than disadvantage them, as maintained by some demonetisation critics.

The acronym is reminiscent of pro-Dalit outfit BSP's "Jai Bhim" slogan and carries an association with Dalit movements. Apart from challenging BSP in the UP polls, the move seeks to counter the flak BJP received over violence against Dalits in some of the states it rules and also the Rohith Vemula suicide. The mantra of Dr Ambedkar was to work for uplift of the poor. And the biggest power of technology is that it can empower the poor," Modi said as he extolled the app's feature that allows a thumb print to activate it. Earlier, use of a thumb impression for legal purposes was a sign of illiteracy (angutha chhaap) but technology and the new app could turn this into an instrument of personal empowerment, the PM said. "Your thumb is your bank now. It has become your identity now."

The political application of Bhim was all too evident as the launch of the app comes just before the crucial assembly elections in UP where BJP is struggling to detach the Dalits from BSP chief Mayawati. The social enlargement Modi had in mind seemed to be an attempt to expand the constituency beyond the party's more traditional catchment of upper castes to the less well-off OBCs and SCs.

Addressing the gathering of party workers and officials, Modi recalled Ambedkar as an economist and even went on to utter "Bahujan Hitay Bahujan Sukhay".

"The RBI was born on principles he (Ambedkar) wrote in his thesis. How the federal structure should run economically. The Finance Commission that was formed for this purpose was a result of his principles. If there is one person whose contribution stands out in India's economic framework, it is Babasaheb Ambedkar's," Modi said.

"No matter how far a country has gone, even for them, they have to go to Google, ask Google Guru what is Bhim. At first, they will see Bhim from Mahabharat. If they dig deeper, they will find Bharat Ratna Bhimrao Ambedkar. This was the goal of his life, to empower the poor. And this is what the app will do. This is the poor's treasure. This will empower the poor, farmers, tribal people," the PM said.

Arguing that Bhim app will bring Ambedkar centrestage, Modi said, "Be it a smartphone or feature phone of Rs 1,000-1,200, Bhim app can be used. There is no need to have internet connectivity .One only needs a thumb" Modi's dedication of the app to Ambedkar is a part of his strategy over the past year to seek to position BJP as being truly mindful of his legacy . He has repeatedly attacked Congress for ignoring and even downplaying Ambedkar in comparison with Nehru-Gandhi leaders.

BJP and Sangh Parivar have tried to appropriate a piece of the Dalit icon's legacy as the Modi government accelerated construction of an Ambedkar memorial in Delhi.

SP becomes Split Party as Mulayam expels son Akhilesh, cousin Ram Gopal for 6 years

The relentless battle for power in Samajwadi Party culminated on Friday in a vertical split with its chief Mulayam Singh Yadav expelling son and chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and his main strategist Ram Gopal Yadav from the party for six years. The development can complicate the already complex political landscape in UP just before the 2017 assembly polls.

Mulayam's drastic step was a retaliation against Ak hilesh's refusal to accept the candidates selected by the party chief and release of his own slate. On Friday, the Akhilesh camp followed through his defiance by convening a special convention of the party without bothering to take Mulayam's consent. Akhilesh's externment has led to a politically novel situation where a CM has been expelled from his party.

While making the dramatic announcement, Mulayam indicated that he would soon substitute Akhilesh with someone else as CM. But this should not necessarily endanger the incumbent. The constitutional design does not require governor Ram Naik, (read BJP-controlled Centre) to go by what happens outside the assembly to decide leadership and majority claims.

Political flux such as this expands the scope for Naik to step in, but BJP appears to see little profit in entangling itself in the squabble among Yadavs from Saifai so close to the polls, the dates of which may be announced as early as next week. The model code of con duct will kick in as soon as the schedule is out, something which will reduce Akhilesh to just a figure head.

The possibility of Akhilesh playing "victim" further diminishes the incentive for the Centre to meddle in the mess. This is a distinct prospect because of the likelihood that with the help of Congress, Ajit Singh's RLD and Independents, Akhilesh may muster enough support for him to hang on.

Governor Naik made his disinclination to go proactive clear when he told TOI, "As of now, it is an intra-pary development. I am keeping a watch on it. Necessary steps will be taken when the situation so demands."

Channels quoted him denying there was any constitutional crisis that would require his intervention.

The bitter denouement of the domestic conflict, however, appears to have undercut SP's potency as a realistic contender for power in 2017, and may work to the advantage of BSP and BJP. The splintering can push Muslims, a huge chunk of whom have consistently supported Mulayam since the early 1990s, to look at BSP to achieve their foremost objective of defeating BJP.

BJP can hope to gain because of the possibility of Muslims getting split among "secular" parties has increased in the aftermath of the political Mahabharat in the Yadav clan. The diminution of SP, especially Akhilesh who has tried to project himself as a man focused on development, can also benefit the Hindutva party by enhancing its appeal among those who resent BSP and will like the state to grow faster.

Surprisingly, Congress, the weakest of all the players, can be a beneficiary, too. The Rahul Gandhi-led outfit was struggling to stay in contention and was on the lookout for a partner. It looked dejected when Mulayam shut out the door for a partnership. The split in SP has revived the possibility for it to find a partner because Akhilesh, who favoured an understanding but was unable to clinch it because of resistance from his father, will be free to pursue his options.

The expulsion of the young CM along with Ram Gopal Yadav was the logical outcome of a feud which saw Akhilesh turning into a rebel after being denied by his father and estranged uncle Shivpal the pre-eminence that he though he deserved by virtue of being the sole legatee of the party boss.

Addressing the media, Mulayam made it clear that he saw himself as the party chief. He said that he stepped aside for his son when the chief ministership was his for the asking. "Nobody else has done this," he said. He directed his ire at Ram Gopal for working for a split in the party and for leading Akhilesh astray.
