Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa are Brahmin family. Iyengar's name, she regularly worn on the forehead. This is consistent with the beliefs of the community, but in order for her to be cremated her body. Eaiedienke party sources rather decided to be buried in her body. ..

His tomb is still the order of the noise coming from the clock tick will be, Manna. And to bury the dead in the sense that they were yet to get their possession.

That is why so many leaders are pudcipedutu.Another reason is the fact that the body buried kalcakunda Jaya Jaya ... personally caste Brahmin family, she does not belong to whichever party, not religion, is the same for everyone, Mom. He buried her body. Finally, another reason ... Jaya talakorivi put the body to burn someone she should have a blood relative. Jayalalithaa funeral sees two departures from tradition

CHENNAI: The funeral ceremony of Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday was a departure from tradition in two aspects. First, Jayalalithaa's body was buried instead of being cremated, going against Vaishnavite Brahminical tradition. Second, her friend Sasikalaa Natarajan, who was handed the national flag after the coffin was closed, led the former chief minister's nephew Deepak Jayakumar in performing the final rites. In Hindu customs, women are not allowed to perform final rites.

The feeling that pervaded the air around MGR Memorial was more ceremonious than grieving. The endgame came at 6.05pm as four men dutifully hammered nails into the coffin. Wreaths and salutations had been offered and the mortal remains of the AIADMK's talisman was about to be lowered into a pit.

The wails were largely missing. Anjulakshmi, a former AIADMK city corporation councilor, and a TV celebrity couple, Ganeshkar and Harathi Ravi, were the notable exceptions as they sobbed inconsolably.

Jayalalithaa's successor, O Panneerselvam, appeared to not have shaken off the shock of his leader's demise. He walked barefoot, quietly taking measured strides behind Sasikalaa, as the latter led her family to a makeshift stage. VN Sudhakaran, Jayalalithaa's once foster son and Sasikalaa's nephew, was present in the entourage.

It was Sudhakaran's ceremonious wedding in 1995 that brought disrepute and jail time to Jayalalithaa. On Tuesday, Sudhakaran preferred to sit back and remained on the dais instead letting Jayalalithaa's nephew take centre stage.

Earlier, it was all hustle and bustle at the burial site a few hours before the start of the funeral procession from Rajaji Hall, where Jayalalithaa's body was kept for public viewing. Greater Chennai Corporation commissioner D Karthikeyan was supervising the on-site preparations. A few attendees had already taken their seats at 3pm, notably including former city mayor Saidai S Duraisamy and Rajya Sabha MP V Maitreyan.

Outside the venue, crowd had begun to swell. Barricades set up to prevent party cadre from barging in was proving only just enough. Some who attempted to scale the memorial's wall were greeted with lathicharge from cops on duty. But people found a way around the obstacles. They scaled everything in sight, be it the Labour Statue or the roof of the Anna swimming pool beside the memorial, and perched atop the highest vantage point for a best view of the proceedings.

Soon, Union ministers Venkaiah Naidu and Pon Radhakrishnan arrived. A little after 4 pm, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi walked in flanked by Ghulam Nabi Azad and state Congress president Su Thirunavukkarasar on either side. Governor Vidyasagar Rao arrived at 4.40 pm.

After the coffin was lowered into the pit, chaos ensued as the cops lost control. Police personnel of the Tamil Nadu Home Guards left their stations and converged at the burial site. Many among them wanted a part of the history for themselves as they shot videos and clicked selfies, leading to disruption of the burial. The scene turned into one where cops had to battle their own kind in order to afford the late AIADMK chief privacy as she rested six foot under.

cinema actress and tamila nadu cm Jayalalithaa is no more

Her mortal remains will be kept in state at the historic Rajaji Hall on Tuesday to enable the public to pay homage.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is no more. Seventy-four days after being admitted to Apollo Hospitals here, the general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam passed away at 11.30 p.m. on Monday. She did not respond to emergency life support treatment administered after she suffered a cardiac arrest a day earlier. She was 68.

Late in the night, her body was taken to ‘Veda Nilayam’, her residence in Poes Garden in the heart of Chennai. Officials said her mortal remains would be kept in state at the historic Rajaji Hall on Tuesday to enable the public to pay homage.

An hour before the announcement about her death was made, the police strength outside the Apollo Hospitals was increased and the route from the hospital to her residence was cleared for traffic. Security personnel took position outside in good measure.

Around midnight, Sasikala Natarajan, her trusted aide of over 30 years, who was by her side since the time Jayalalithaa was admitted on September 22, left the Apollo Hospitals for Poes Garden.

Jayalalithaa was one of the country’s most articulate and determined political personalities and a top film actress of the 1960s and 1970s. She showed enormous resolve in fighting one obstacle after another since the time she stepped into the world of politics in June 1982, under the mentorship of Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran (MGR), the founder of the AIADMK and her lead co-star in 28 Tamil films.

Scenes of sorrow

The death plunged the State and the party into grief. AIADMK cadres and other members of the public who had massed outside the hospital wailed inconsolably, beating their chests, as the news was announced after weeks of anxiety, which peaked on Monday. The State declared a seven-day mourning and a holiday for educational institutions for three days. The national flag and the AIADMK flag would be flown at half-mast as a mark of mourning.

Announcing her death shortly after midnight in a bulletin, the Apollo Hospitals referred to the cardiac arrest she suffered on the evening of December 4 “even while our intensivist was in her room”. It added: “Despite our best efforts, the Honourable Chief Minister’s underlying conditions rendered her unable to recover and she passed away at 11.30 p.m. today.”

On November 13, Jayalalithaa was moved to a private room after she miraculously battled multiple health complications.

A one-time propaganda secretary of the party and a former Rajya Sabha member, Jayalalithaa steered the AIADMK since 1989 when the party, which had split into two following MGR’s death in December 1987, reunited under her stewardship. In the last six years, the political fortunes of the AIADMK soared to a new high, with Jayalalithaa leading it to back-to-back victories in the 2011 Assembly elections, local body polls, the 2014 Parliamentary polls and the last Assembly elections in May 2016.

Since 2011, Jayalalithaa had launched several public welfare schemes doling out numerous freebies under the ‘Brand Amma’, such as launching the Amma Unavagam (canteen), Amma Water, Amma Salt — winning accolades nationally and endearing herself to the masses.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa passes away after a cardiac arrest

After an uncertainty-filled 75 days in hospital, and a tense final 24 hours, chief minister J jayalalitha tamilnadu , Amma to millions of Tamils and godmother to legions of  aidmk cadres, was declared dead close to midnight of Monday by  apollo hospital . She was 68.

A popular and prolific filmstar, Jayalalithaa+ went on to become a four-term and six-time chief minister — she had to step down in 2001 and 2014 following court judgments+ in corruption-related cases, but was subsequently acquitted and re-instated. She is only the second CM in almost 30 years, besides J&K's Mufti, to die of natural causes while still in office.

"It is with indescribable grief we announce the sad demise of our esteemed honourable chief minister of Tamil Nadu Puratchithalavi Amma at 11.30pm today," a midnight statement from the hospital said. The state has announced seven days' mourning.

Even as a convoy was standing by at the hospital gates to take Jayalalithaa's body to her  poes garden residence Veda Nilayam, AIADMK legislators met at the party headquarters to elect finance minister O Panneerselvam as the successor

Jayalalithaa was taken to Apollo Hospitals on September 22 after she collapsed of respiratory distress at her Poes Garden residence late that evening. Initial reports from the hospital said she was brought in with fever and dehydration, and doctors soon diagnosed sepsis, a life-threatening infection that spreads in the blood, as the underlying reason. Intensive treatment provided by a team of experts succeeded in reviving her to an extent.

Just when it appeared that she had overcome the worst, she suffered a cardiac arrest around 4pm on Sunday+ . Since then, there was little hope.

The past 24 hours witnessed considerable anxiety, tension and uncertainty across the state. While millions spent a sleepless night and a day with prayers, the AIADMK readied itself for the eventuality and elected OPS as the legislature party leader.

Around 6pm, a few Tamil television channels reported that the chief minister had died, sending Jayalalithaa followers into despair and a few hundreds in front of the Apollo Hospitals into fury. They broke police barricades and threw stones; police resorted to mild force. Soon, Apollo Hospitals put out a statement saying Jayalalithaa was still on life-support, forcing the channels to retract the news.

At the AIADMK head quarters, the party flag which was at half-mast after the news broke, fluttered high again.

Shops downed shutters by early. The doctors, however, refused to give up. "She hasn't woken up after the cardiac arrest," a doctor told TOI. "But we are hopeful."

Dr Richard Beale, the in early afternoon, vehicles went off the roads, and schools, colleges and offices called it a day tensivist who flew in from London several times to treat Jayalalithaa, said: "Unfortunately and in spite of the progress she had made, her underlying health condition inevitably meant that the risk of further problems always remained ...The situation is grave,

but I can confirm that everything possible is being done to give her the best chance of surviving this shocking event." Apollo Hospitals executive director Sangita Reddy tweeted around 2.45pm: "Despite our best efforts, our beloved CM remains in a grave situation." Four specialists from AIIMS, Delhi were assisting Apollo doctors till late in the evening when the CM remained on life support systems for the heart, lungs and kidneys.

A team of doctors finally pronounced her dead at 11.30pm.
